Rada Mateva is a video artist, director and cultural producer. Born in Sofia in 1983, Mateva studied Theatre and Media Arts in Nuremberg and Film at the DFFB (German Film and Television Academy) in Berlin and focused on classical experimental film, which she analyzed in depth in her thesis “The Shadow in Experimental Cinema”. Mateva build up her practice in Berlin, where she lived for many years. Her main creative direction is the combination between live interaction and video, experimenting with both analogue and digital methods, Processing and Artificial Intelligence.
Her works have been shown at Fieber Festival, Berlin, Volumfestival, Norway, HDA Kunstsalon, Berlin, Strom Club, Munich, Leap Gallery, Berlin, Delphi Theater, Berlin, Night of Museums, Plovdiv, Videoholika, Varna, The Fridge, Sofia, National Theater, Stuttgart, Days of Bulgarian Documentary Cinema, Berlin, etc.
Mateva is the founder and producer of Avanti Film Discourse, a festival for experimental cinema, Berlin and the co-owner of allnightsreserved, a studio for Motion Graphics and Animation.
